about

when i was working on Compop 41.1: Postcorewave Miscellectronica, i had this awesome idea:

Step 1: separate my own songs into Drums and NotDrum stems using online neural net software thingies;
Step 2: turn the NotDrum stems into bad midi piano sounds using online conversion thingies;
Step 3: reconstruct my old songs, now with Drums and Midified NotDrums!

i was gunna call it "Quasiautodadamidiwave" or something, "quasi" because it was only half midi, the other half still original drums (albeit magically isolated by complicated technological means), and "auto" because it's all my own stuff that i'm quasimidiying.

BUT THEN I MADE A MISTAKE!

when reassembling a track, i accidentally dragged the MIDI file across to Acid instead of the WAV file... and i discovered that Acid can do things with raw midi!

i had no idea! (i'm really really late to the midi party, i know it - i feel like i'm discovering shit now that has been obsolete for thirty years already. but life is subjective etc, and in this particular life, i've suddenly become obsessive excited by midi.)

and so then i began to realise that i can make these midi portions of the file sound like whatever else weirdo shitty midi sounds they have - bad organs and sine waves and harmonicas and xylophones and so on, even bad Jazz Drum Kits or bad Orchestral Drum Kits etc etc.

so then of course my project of having an album of quasimidied stuff was blown apart completely!

so yeah, this now-double album is still called QuasiAutoDadaMidiWave, but heaps of it isn't quasimidied at all, it's full blown totalmidied, sometimes multiple-midied. i know, i could've changed it but i didn't.

about

Buttress O'Kneel Australia

“Words like "mashup" and "remix" don't really do justice to Buttress O'Kneel's method - Top 40 pop crap gets sliced, diced, and tossed into a dizzying, exciting hardcore electro stew. Compared to other djs who timidly drop a Vanilla Ice acapella over a Chemical Bros intro just to move a dance floor, O'Kneel shreds copyrights with a blood-curdling vehemence. Smash the state!”
