WHAT THE ENDE LABEL SAID:
"(ENDE419) Buttress O Kneel - Neoglutwave Hyperchop
ABOUT BUTTRESS O KNEEL
Buttress O Kneel originally infiltrated Australia's underground plunderphonic mashup scene in the mid 2000s. Her Myspace profile caught the attention of some of the breakcore women or "hardcore chicks" as they called themselves, and before long Cat-Grrl booked the elusive BOK for a show.
With her brilliant and hilarious plunderphonic mashups, BOK was definitely a good fit for Melbourne breakcore bunnies Black Lotus - among her truly mindboggling plunderphonic audio manipulations were things like combining perfectly Public Enemy acapellas over the theme from Seinfeld.
Buttress O Kneel played a few shows around Melbourne and then later Canberra and Sydney and other places. And some 15 years later is still baffling us all with brilliant old school plunderphonic mashups.
ENDE Records had been chasing BOK for some time and finally we can now show you a brand spanking new Buttress O Kneel [sic] album.
Buttress O Kneel [sic] has a Bandcamp of her own with literally dozens of her bizarre compositions including this one:
buttressokneel.bandcamp.com/album/corecore
which opens with the aforementioned Public Enemy/Seinfeld mashup.
Buttress O Kneel [sic] has since been featured in various media and a couple of exhibitions on sampling and plunderphonics in Australia.
Not quite breakcore but she does have an affinity towards it. So there's elements of it here.
I'll leave the next comment to a review BOK had once and then finally to the plunderer themselves:
"Words like "mashup" and "remix" don't really do justice to Buttress O'Kneel's method - Top 40 pop crap gets sliced, diced, and tossed into a dizzying, exciting hardcore electro stew. Compared to other djs who timidly drop a Vanilla Ice acapella over a Chemical Bros intro just to move a dance floor, O'Kneel shreds copyrights with a blood-curdling vehemence. Smash the state!”

FOREWARNED BY BUTTRESS O KNEEL [sic]
mr NOISTRUCT (who runs ENDE RECORDS) asked me a while back if i had anything to release on his label, and all i really had was a bunch of leftover abstract multilayered CD jams from the Glutwave sessions (where i'd make a buncha improvised mess out of teensy fragments of live CD manipulations, layering it up again, and again, and again - like a Jackson Pollock but in audio form).
so i took these unreleased leftover Glutwave tracks and used them as source material for my POPCHOP audiomulch setup, and made some wikkid improv breakcore jamz with them. then i reintegrated these breakcore jamz with the Glutwave pieces that spawned them. and then once the album was ordered and ready to go, i did one more pass of live free jazz CD, just for garnish.
i really really dig what this ended up being - some unholy bastard of the abstract messy GLUTWAVE stuff and the automatic / generative unrelenting cut-up glitchcore breakvibes of my POPCHOP stuff. it's long, 75 minutes ish, and it's exhausting and noisy and unnecessary - but yeah, i really love it.
