Sure, when she started, Buttress O'Kneel was a pioneer, a brave audio warrior hacking deep furrows in the copyright-jungle, reclaiming cultural spaces in an over-corporatised landscape taken over with fences and fortresses; and yes, back in the day, she was an inspiration, a demi-goddess, a vibrant subcultural force to be reckoned with, blazing a path for others to follow. I mean, sheesh, the word "mash-up" didn't even exist back then. But now? Who cares about more mash-ups, more plunderphonics, more try-hard remedia detournmentology? This shit is old, real old. Been there, done that. People have moved on. Get with the times, girlfriend - no-one is interested. Go arrange all the words in Star Wars in alphabetical order, or something- oh, that's already been done too? So go and play 100 copies of the White Album all at once- no? That's been done as well? Well, looks like there's nothing left for you, Ms O'Kneel. Go home. It's past your bedtime, culturally-speaking. It's all been done, and better, and bigger, and brighter, and more cleverly.
