about

"Around the turn of the century, Buttress O'Kneel turned momentarily away from her obsession with slicing and re-arranging the pop stars and news reporters of the day, and decided to slice and re-arrange something else instead. Ms O'Kneel teamed up with Ms Panthera Leo, well known around the World Famous Guitar and Plunger Studio Compound for her all-encompassing love of nature in all its guises, and together the two decided to form a musical troupe dedicated to taking the 'sounds of nature', and reconfiguring them into more modernistic styles of music. Of course, this forward-thinking pair of young ladies were not about to ignore the sounds of 'human nature', and as well as utilising the sounds of traditionally 'natural' sounds such as birds and rain, The Fruiting Body (as they named their project) also used the sounds of cars, trams, and all manner of human environments as fodder for their detourned aural works. The dynamic duo created two albums in quick succession: the first was called 'The Field', and the second was called 'Nudibranch and the Moondew'. Other than a handful of friends and colleagues, both albums have sadly remained largely unheard and unreleased - until now, more than a decade later.

As 2001 approached and planes crashed into buildings, Ms O'Kneel's political output would take over much of her creative life, and Ms Leo's focus would move on to more spiritual and practical matters, and 'The Fruiting Body' was lost to the Great Hystory that swallows all things. So it is with great pleasure, and some vainglorious pride, that we can bring you this work from so long ago. Please note, all downloads come with scans of the original artwork. Please also note that, as the ingredients of the songs were just as important as the finished results themseves, each song's ingredients are easily accessible by clicking on the 'lyrics' section of the Bandcamp portal mechanism link for each song.

Enjoy! And, who knows - if enough interest is shown, perhaps The Fruiting Body could be encouraged to reform and re-record once more... Here's hoping."

about

Buttress O'Kneel Australia

“Words like "mashup" and "remix" don't really do justice to Buttress O'Kneel's method - Top 40 pop crap gets sliced, diced, and tossed into a dizzying, exciting hardcore electro stew. Compared to other djs who timidly drop a Vanilla Ice acapella over a Chemical Bros intro just to move a dance floor, O'Kneel shreds copyrights with a blood-curdling vehemence. Smash the state!”
