about

In 2004, Buttress O'Kneel constructed this audiodocumentary "Heroes", using news reports and interviews meticulously sliced over musical samples taken entirely from the recorded output of David Bowie, as part of her on-going 'ReMemetic ReMedia Psyoperational Pstrategies' series. Now, a decade later, it is to be seen as a hystorical record - and to remind us that, although the names might be out-dated, the power structures in question are still very much still alive.

From the original liner notes:

"finished june 2004. constructed entirely from recorded interviews, news reports, and the works of David Bowie, a man who has always had important things to say about the abuse of power. all rights reversed. this audio documentary is an interwebmegalink recycling initiative"

about

Buttress O'Kneel Australia

“Words like "mashup" and "remix" don't really do justice to Buttress O'Kneel's method - Top 40 pop crap gets sliced, diced, and tossed into a dizzying, exciting hardcore electro stew. Compared to other djs who timidly drop a Vanilla Ice acapella over a Chemical Bros intro just to move a dance floor, O'Kneel shreds copyrights with a blood-curdling vehemence. Smash the state!”
