about

In 2014, Buttress O'Kneel decided to experiment with manipulating CDs through her series of anbaric contraptions along to the base-level analogue-reality of pounding drums, improvising against a bed of real-time percussion, using her CD-destroying machines as a lead instrument instead of a rhythmatic one, combining the artificial with the demonstrably authentic. This "Drum and Waste" series, begun with A Demon Sheen on the kit and later Jennifer Tait, continues, with a total of three releases so far (one with Sheen, two with Tait).

But in 2017, the thought occurred to Ms O'Kneel, that there are many available "drums only" stem-type pieces available on the information superhighway - wouldn't it be fun to play along to OTHER drummers - more famous, less aware of her intentions - and record some kind of a "Drum and Waste All-stars" release?

The answer, it turns out, was a resounding "FUCK YES".

On this first EP (she split the recordings into two releases - seriously, who wants to listen to an uninterrupted hour of jittering CD noise?), Buttress jams along with Dave Lombardo, John Dolmayan, John Bonham, Brad Wilk, and Lars Ulrich. All pieces improvised.

"A Nonrigid Lob" is an anagram of "Raining Blood".
"Triennial Hoof" is an anagram of "Fool in the Rain"
"Mainline Elk Thing" is an anagram of "Killing in the Name".
"Damn Near Nest" is an anagram of "Enter Sandman".

about

Buttress O'Kneel Australia

“Words like "mashup" and "remix" don't really do justice to Buttress O'Kneel's method - Top 40 pop crap gets sliced, diced, and tossed into a dizzying, exciting hardcore electro stew. Compared to other djs who timidly drop a Vanilla Ice acapella over a Chemical Bros intro just to move a dance floor, O'Kneel shreds copyrights with a blood-curdling vehemence. Smash the state!”
