about

"Produced at the very tail end of the Howard Era (11 years of sliding backwards into racist slime), this album was created as a last-ditch piece of ReMemetic PsyOperational ReMicturation, a condensed magickal artefact of Intent and Emotion, a Foul Token crystallised from Angst and Anger and multi-generational Sadness and the Disappointment and Rage of the Ancestors.

And it worked - shortly after the release of this album in 2007, John Howard was deposed. However, it's now been 11 years since this was released, and Australia is just as fucked, if not slimier and more racist than it has ever been since the White Australia Policy. There is so much still to do. We're so very far away from the self-declared Aussie ideals of Fairness and Welcome and Equality. So very fucking far.

Finally uploaded to Bandcamp after 11 years. Some details have changed, but it's overwhelmingly, horrifyingly, still sharply relevant.

Made on stolen land, with sadness and anger."

ORIGINAL LINER NOTES:

"Buttress O’Kneel initiates an independent inquiry into what it means to have ‘Australian values’, when the hystory of the country is based squarely on invasion, genocide, abusing the needy, institutionalised racism, and lies. This is the album Australia needs to have, but is too scared to listen to.

Researched, collated, remixed, assembled and produced by Buttress O’Kneel, 2005-2007.

Special thanks to John Jacobs, Dodgy DJ Dave, and The InterWebMegaLink.

about

Buttress O'Kneel Australia

“Words like "mashup" and "remix" don't really do justice to Buttress O'Kneel's method - Top 40 pop crap gets sliced, diced, and tossed into a dizzying, exciting hardcore electro stew. Compared to other djs who timidly drop a Vanilla Ice acapella over a Chemical Bros intro just to move a dance floor, O'Kneel shreds copyrights with a blood-curdling vehemence. Smash the state!”
