about

"In 2001, a twenty-something Buttress O'Kneel, full of righteous indignation and rebellious youthful vigour, constructed this audiodocumentary "The New Masters of the Universe", using news reports and interviews meticulously sliced over musical samples, as Part the Third of her on-going 'ReMemetic ReMedia Psyoperational Pstrategies' series. It was all about the immense control that companies had over regular people, and how little humyn life means to the Masters of the Universe. And it was fucken spot on.

And then, just as she was about to release it, the Twin Towers were hit by planes, and the mainstream media stopped talking about globalisation and corporate monopolies and the exploitation of the second and third worlds, and switched over to talking about pretty much nothing else but terrorism. Almost as if by black magic. Almost as if that was the aim all along.

Although the details have changed (although many haven't), and the specific powers at play have changed (although many haven't), Buttress still feels that this is an important work, even if just hystorically, and we can't help but agree. So sit back, relax, and have all that relaxation completely undone by the realisation that you really are nothing but a pawn in a game between corporate empires, a game you can never win. Enjoy!"

From the original liner notes:

"With Noam Chomsky, Naomi Klein, John the Average Teen, Run DMC, John Pilger's "The New Rulers of the World", B'O'K's "Melbourne and the Enormous Crocodile", Jodorowsky's "The Holy Mountain", and the documentary "The Merchants of Cool". This documentary is dedicated to the fact that there is already more television footage of the WTC disaster than of the Cambodian, Indonesian and Timor massacres combined (not to mention the epidemics, wars, coups and human suffering everywhere else around the world). All rights reversed, Buttress O'Kneel 2001."

about

Buttress O'Kneel Australia

“Words like "mashup" and "remix" don't really do justice to Buttress O'Kneel's method - Top 40 pop crap gets sliced, diced, and tossed into a dizzying, exciting hardcore electro stew. Compared to other djs who timidly drop a Vanilla Ice acapella over a Chemical Bros intro just to move a dance floor, O'Kneel shreds copyrights with a blood-curdling vehemence. Smash the state!”
